Additional Visitor Information for Behavioral Health Services

The Behavioral Health Units at University Physicians Hospital are locked and closely monitored. The following additional visitor guidelines are a safety precaution for all patients, visitors and staff.

Visiting Hours for the Behavioral Health Units: 12:30pm - 1:30pm and 5:30pm - 6:30pm daily. Exterior exits to the hospital are locked after 8:00pm.

Visitors must be 14 years of age or older and in good health. Photo identification may be required of visitors over 18 years old.

Visiting policies may change based on physician orders and unit safety.

All personal items must be locked in lockers or in the visitor's vehicle. This includes car keys, cell phones, purses, wallets, coats, and backpacks.

Proper attire is expected on the Behavioral Health Units.
  • Visitors must be wearing shoes and a shirt.
  • Visitors cannot wear provocative clothing that exposes or overtly accentuates the body, clothing or jewelry with spikes or protruding metal, gang-related clothing or tattoos, or hats, bandanas, caps or stocking caps.

The following items are not allowed on the unit. Items brought to the unit for a patient will be checked in by UPH Hospital staff.
  • Valuables
  • Prescription or over-the-counter medications
  • Glass or breakable containers
  • Cigarettes, tobacco products, matches or lighters
  • Electronic equipment

Phone calls
Patients have access to phones from 7:00am - 9:00am and 3:00pm - 10:00pm, when they are not involved in unit activities. Please limit phone calls to 10 minutes.
