University Physicians Hospital is an Advanced Life Support Base Hospital certified through the Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. University Physicians Hospital’s Base Hospital program is managed and administered by a medical director and prehospital coordinators.
As a Base Hospital, UPH Hospital is responsible for quality prehospital patient management, emergency medical services (EMS) medical supervision, and continuing education to EMS providers and Emergency Department staff. UPH Hospital administers and supervises prehospital care rendered by 3 EMS and Fire Agencies based with UPH Hospital. In collaboration with the other Base Hospitals and EMS regulators, UPH Hospital staff develops and implements system-wide EMS standards of care.
UPH Hospital Emergency Department Intermediaries use advanced communication equipment to provide on-line radio and phone consultation with field personnel.
